Eagle - thanks for your insights. But, I was trying to get some info from the person that was actually there.

It was kind of a rhetorical question.

This appears to happen on an endline near an exit, which is where our security personnel usually stand.

While I don't currently perform basketbal security or work as a member of a table crew, I am a former military policeman and kinda understand these situations. I was just curious about this incident to see if the poster could actually shed some light on it - all else is speculation.

Fan on fan in the stands is one thing. Fan on Security? Wow!

The thing is, the guy he was fighting wasn't school security, he was a Meck PD officer. Assault on a police officer...not a good idea in my opinion.

Is it me or does the person ALREADY look like they are wearing a prison jump suit?
And did I hear a "Don't Tazz Me Bro" on the way out?

Grunewar,

I've done security/crowd control for Formula 1 racing, rock concerts, family shows/events, WWE House shows, Rap concerts, Minor-league hockey, Country Concerts, Arena Football games, College football & basketball games, high school football & basketball games.

In general security/crowd control situations, the right to use lethal force is not authorized compared to being an MP.

1. None of this is relevant to his point, which was that you weren't there so your comments aren't overly helpful to his question.

2. Your misunderstanding of the military is showing. If you think MPs can use any lethal force in normal crowd control situations, you're mistaken. MPs are trained in more than just riot control.

I have no misunderstanding of Military operations as I have previous experience being a military brat when my dad was still serving. In my comment I said general security/crowd control, use of lethal force is not authorized, because generally all a person has for offensive/defensive use is just their body when in a standard security/crowd control position, as not all are authorized to carry even pepper spray/mace. I do not know many regular security/crowd control where their body has to be considered as a deadly weapon due to training, compared to some MPs.

Use of lethal force is only used in the most severe of circumstances in which most in security/crowd control will never face. MPs & LEOs are trained in how not to use lethal force unless the need is there, a regular person trained in security/crowd control may not have that particular training so the use of lethal force is not authorized.

Concerning the comments I made, those are general perceptions that anyone with a background in security/crowd control would be thinking.

Being a military brat doesn't make you an expert. And your posts have previously displayed a lack of understanding of the current military. I'm not saying it's a huge gap, but there's a gap there my friend.

Your comment was in direct response to someone saying he had just as much understanding as you due to his training as an MP, and it came across as, "You don't know what your'e talking about because most people can't use lethal force in crowd control like MPs can." The fact is, MPs can't use lethal force in crowd control situations. Ever. Unless, of course, they are protecting life and limb; but that's the same authority police have in these situations. It's not specific to MPs.
