Bama/LSU technical foul rescinded

I was at the Bama/LSU game last night when a personal foul was called on LSU for a hack on Bama's big man, JayMichael Green. Immediately the calling official also signaled a T on Green, which would have been his second of the night. After about a 10 min. delay going back and forth to both coaches, then calling both coaches together, then huddling btwn the three officals several times, they rescinded the T and Green shot two foul shots for the original hack.

Being at the game we got no explanation of what was going on. Can anyone shed any light on this?

King James version. New to me. Interesting.

I don't have any information about what happened. This is the first I've heard about it. One possible explanation would be if the officials decided that the "offending" player didn't actually say the unsporting comment. Perhaps it came from the stands and one of the other officials offered that information and so as a crew they decided that the technical foul wasn't warranted.

I'm not sure if that would've taken 10 minutes to figure out, but it's one possibility.

I've not seen it either...but another possibility is that it was for dead ball contact and it was somehow determined that he tripped/stumbled into the opponent by accident rather than deliberately.

I've had a partner do this (the offending party turned out to be an official for the next game sitting behind the bench) in a summer league game. It took more like 10 seconds, though.
