3 man varsity where to stand for timeouts

Hey hows it goin! Anyway quick question. Where to stand for 3 man timeouts. I know its block and top of key for 30sec and block for full. But where does the 3rd guy stand? Center court? where ball is? thanks!

With the ball unless its coming back in on tableside.

Even then, I'll stand with the ball about 15 feet onto the court from the spot of the pending throw-in.

We've been told that the 3rd guy will stand even with the other two directly out from the spot where the throw-in will take place if it is going to be a tableside throw-in. Otherwise, what tref said.

Inbounds spot when restart is a throw-in. Bottom of the lane when restart is a free throw. That's for 30's and full's.

If ball is near bench, I'll go opposite side as to get away from huddle

That is the reasoning for what we do here.

Same here, even with the other officials (30 or full) & in line with the spot.

We have the inbounder with the ball at the spot (or out onto the floor if it's a tableside sideline throw-in).

The other officials are at the top of the keys (30) or on the blocks (60).

I have some partners who, for some reason, have a hard time remembering the difference between 2-person and 3-person in this particular mechanic. No idea why.

If they do not do much 3 man, and have not looked over the officiating manual, then that is likely the reason. The DHs here going from 2 in the first game to 3 in the second doesn't affect me much with TOs, but PCAs are sometimes an issue in the first couple of minutes.

about PCA's doing three man.....do a lot of you veterans split the key and rest of the front court precisely down the middle when working with a guy new to three man, or keep it like it is according to the manual? our association does it both ways.....
