First Playoff Game

Figured my season was over on Friday. Just got a handful of games for next week. And, as a total surprise, was assigned a first round boys district playoff game.

The Ides Of March ...

I'm curious. What's the time line for the basketball season in Florida. We're only halfway through our regular season in the Constitution State. Conference, league, and state tournament games won't start until early March.

P.S. It's 10° F here right now. It bottomed out at 0° F last night. Please do not tell us what the weather is like in Lake Placid. Just in case, I'm going to temporarily put you on my ignore list. See you in a few months.

My first game in Girls BB was November 9. My first BV game was a week later. Girls end their season on Friday and start districts the following week. Sectionals are the week after that [made up of 4 district 1st & 2nd place teams]. States with the 4 sectional winners in each class begin the following week. Boys end their season 2-4 and start playoffs at the district level the following week.

Every school participates in district playoffs. And those vary in size from 3 to 9 or 10 schools. Next year, there will be 8 classifications rather than 6.

We still have 2 weeks left here for regular season.

The difference this year is that all 6 classifications will have state at the same time, compared to 3 classifications 1 week & the other 3 the next week.

Second week of February is the last week of the regular season here.

I miss living in a state where playoffs didn't start until March. It just seems too early to be done in the middle of Feb.

They pushed the season back in VT, so they will finish mid-March now. Here i FL, sports overlap, so some football players don't start playing basketball till their team is finished. Sometimes, that can go into December. And, it takes a few games for them to adjust to a different sport.

I got another assignment there on the 31st. The only thing I know is I probably will not have the #1 team because they get a bye to the second round. I suspect it will be the 2 v 7 matchup. And if it is, then it will be the second time I will have that matchup. 3, 4, 5 & 6 are still fairly fluid with a couple more district games to go.
