We are authorized to use pink whistles this week - as long as all officials have them for the game. I have games three nights this week - will see if I actually get to use it. Many of our officials refuse to use one for some reason.

Probably because they'd have to spend $6 to get one. Some officials act as though they don't get paid for working games.

Thanks to the local weekly newspaper, got a preview of the pink uniforms that are going to be worn tomorrow night.

How should an official call fouls/violations on this?

Ask your state how they want this handled. If they want the rule enforced, then one technical will be charged to the head coach for allowing his players to play with an illegal uniform. He will lose his coaching box privileges.

On the other hand, if the state allows an exception for this (which I hope they would), then play on.

The state is allowing the use of Pink uniforms, what I mean is color wise would you say white or pink when calling fouls/violations?

Weird question...

I'd go with red.

Depends on the uniform color of the opponents. If the opponents are Red (or a variation of red) I would go White, if opponent's uniforms are any other color and I would probably go Red.

The opposing team will be in black.

All I know is that it'll be only the girls varsity in the Pink Uniforms right now.

Why not say pink? It is not hard to pronounce, it is not mulit-syllable.

I have never understood why we can not use the real color of the jersey. Schools are proud of their school colors. Are there really any of us referees so tongue tied that we can not say orange or yellow or pink?

We usually say the correct color- as long as it's not burnt umber or something.

Try saying the color loud enough to be heard. Red, easy. Yellow, not so easy.

If the players, fans, coaches, or admin are going to get upset with me for using a color that takes slightly less energy to say, let them. They're going to have a better reason to be mad at me before the game is over anyway, and they'll forget all about it.

If my partners started saying "purple," I'd probably join them, but this is an area where it's just as easy not to stand out.
