No bench, remove player

Doing a low level BV game. The visiting team has 5 players, actually 4 with one there to make 5. The coach asks me during pre-game if he could pull a player during the game that was acting up; two of his players according to him were a bit emotional at time and would like to pull them out and sit them for a spell before returning them to the game.

Well, I didn't have my handy dandy rule book with me, but I said if he took a player out without a sub, then the player was done for the evening and the game continue with 5 v 4. I still haven't researched in the books, so I post to the forum. Thanks.

If he tells you the player is injured, play with 4. Nothing prevents that player from returning later if he feels better.

It may be a loophole, but if the coach is trying to control the emotions of his players, I'd be inclined to work with him.

As long as, he begins with five and not end up with only left due to DQ's or Injury he can manage his team.

Actually, that's not true. By rule, if he has 5 eligible players who can play, he has to put 5 on the floor. As Snaq said, if he tells you one is injured, don't dispute him, and let him go with 4. But as far as him pulling a Norman Dale, nope. The rules require 5.

Obscure reference of the day award to you, sir.

Also: you are old.
