Mindset

Did my 4th game ever tonight and had a better game than last one based on the feedback I got from my fellow refs on this site.

I changed my mindset and did not worry about my partner..I called my game and focused on my PCA and even though we had a physical game with lots of crashes and bumps and brusies..we kept a lid on everything.

BTW, I worked with a Vet tonight with 20+ years on the floor, but who was a bit cynical and who was not really into teaching..just a few comments at half time:)

We've all worked with that guy. He's not used to new guys really being open to constructive feedback. Could be a variety of reasons for that. :D

You'll see all kinds on your journey. You can even learn something from "that guy" too - it may only be that you don't want to become him someday.

Not every official is a good teacher or mentor. I would make sure before the game to mention to your partner that you are a new official and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Your fourth game...that was 20 years ago for me...where did the time go?
