False TRIPLE Foul?

Getting to the end of a close GV game, I had a situation I've never even thought of. As I reflected after the game, I think it's actually an elusive false triple foul situation. If not, it's still odd, interesting, and pathetic.

Down by five with 1.1 seconds remaining, the trailing team's guard grabs her opponent by the waist to stop a fast break. I whistle and immediately signal for an intentional foul (a big point of emphasis in WI for the last decade).

As the free throws are being administered the girl who fouled says some words that are less than appropriate. I whistle and reluctantly slap her a T.

Those shots are underway and apparently she hasn't said enough so she decides to editorialize a bit more, resulting in her second T and third foul with 1.1 seconds remaining (now down 9).

She somewhat calmly exits the game and my partner and I move on. But on the way home, it hits me: if a false double foul is two fouls, not at the same time but before the ball is live, we just had a false triple foul.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

this is nothing special. 6 ft's for the team and the ball at the halfcourt line. first 2 fts. must be taken by the girl fouled and the other 4 by anyone else.

Yep. It is not THAT uncommon. I've seen a player get two T's after disagreeing with a foul call a couple of times over the years.

And no, it would not be a false "triple" foul. It would be just A (singular) false multiple foul.

"a situation when there are two or more fouls by the same team...."

Sure it is...I've been doing this for - well, let's say for more than 20 years, and I think I have had it happen maybe two or three times. So that makes it something other than ordinary.
