In addition to basketball I've officiated baseball, softball, football, volleyball, and even one soccer match over the years. There is a lot of crossover between sports, I think, just from the point of view of "being an official". Sure, rules and mechanics differ widely between sports. But what you learn about being an official -- stuff like professionalism, demeanor, handling people, controlling play, working in a crew, etc. -- is pretty universal.
