Concussions (for the our lurking coaches)

Last night in the GV game prior to my game a girl suffered an obvious concussion (may have even been unconscious). While she was being tended to on the floor by the trainer and her HC (he's a fireman) I happened to be standing next to one of the HCs for my game. He stated that she would have sit out some predescribed amout of days and get clearance from a doctor before she could participate again.

I asked him if this was a state mandate. He says it was from the National Federation.

Have any of you coaches heard of such a policy from either your state or the Fed?

Thiere is no such mandate from the NFHS. They have published guidelines.

Ohio is they need clearance from an MD or certified trainer. If we see the player at the table, they go in. Its on the coach if something happens.

Used to be they had give a note to the official.

Dear Mr. Kotter, Please allow Juan back into the game. I gave him two aspirin and he seems fine now. Signed, Epstein's Mother.

Those are game rules.

The OP is discussing "that she would have sit out some predescribed amout of days and get clearance from a doctor before she could participate again."
