Travel?

Player A-1 dives on the floor for a loose ball. Team B tries to steal the ball while A-1 is on the ground. A-1 tries to get away by going to one knee from being flat on the floor. I called a travel but now I'm not sure. I looked at 4-44-5 and it says that once the player gains control while on the floor, the player may not get up or stand. Is going to one knee what they consider getting up or did I misinterpret that? Thanks.

Looks Like Another Job For The Mythbusters ....

A player securing a ball while on the floor cannot attempt to stand up unless that player starts a dribble. A player in this situation may also pass, shoot, or request a timeout. If the player is flat on his or her back, that player may sit up without violating.

Nope. It says:

After gaining control while on the floor and touching with other than hand or foot, may not attempt to get up or stand.

So I guess that Luke was wrong. One should not turn the other cheek.

Just a hunch, but wasn't Luke quoting someone else?
