Question is however did he travel before releasing the ball & was there a foul not called on the shot?

(1) You can't see his feet in the video, but they don't appear to move.

(2) Why would there be a foul called?

If you're going to try to ask "officiating questions" at the end to make the posts seem on topic when it's just off-topic nonsense, at least make them better.

Right. Reminds me of the coach who wants a foul on a shot from 3/4 court where the "shooter" launches himself into the nearest defender.

I actually have called a foul on a 2/3 court shot once. The defender wiped the shooter out right in front the defender's coach. HC said something to me about the call. I told him he needed asked his player what he was doing fouling in that situation.

Well yes a foul "could" make this a 4 pt play, but contact does not equal a foul. Judging by the movements of the shooter, there wasn't nearly enough contact to create an advantage (or disrupt his RSBQ if you prefer).

To me the video was inconclusive as to whether a foul happened or not.

Considering I still do not have the full understanding of disadvantage/advantage is why I was asking.

1. the video is inconclusive as to wether there was any contact.
2. if there was contact, it sure looks like the shooter initiates it against a perfectly vertical defender. (shooter was responsible for contact)
3. If there was contact, it seems pretty conclusive that it didn't affect his shot at all. (no advantage anyway)

I understand you are not an official but as an official we are trained to "referee the defense." The defender stands there with his hands up and I don't even think there is contact at all.

I am, however, thinking of becoming an official (once I finally get my knee taken care of as I'm tired of wearing this brace).

I was asking due to seeing some of the comments on the article for clarification.

Forget the foul or travel. I love the fact that the T didn't bother to signal a three-point attempt until the ball got close.

Likely T mindset: "(Ball released) That's not going.... (Ball getting close) Well, maybe it... (Basket good) HOLY $#!%!!!"

I'm sure it could happen. A majority of the time, though, the shooter will launch into a defender in order to get adequate distance on the shot. That will (almost) never result in a foul being called.
