And I feel that the coach/parent behavior is the main reason I simply don't work those games. They don't miss me and I don't miss them.

I'll never do games just for the money, if it's not enjoyable why bother? I'm one of the weird ones that aren't bothered by idiot coaches, perversely it gets my Irish up, and I like the confrontation. To quote JR, I just "take care of bidness". I really only do a summer men's league which is spectacular with plenty of current and ex D1 players along with some overseas pros. They can get a little testy, but everyone respects the game and the refs.

Agree. And I'll never do games for free (few exceptions: i.e. Special Olympics.). I'm sure that most of us are somewhere toward the middle of the money/free spectrum.

Our association promotes the occasional local charity by asking for officials. We also work the scrimmages for free each year.
