10 sec count

If a dribbler bringing the ball up the floor is not considered to have frontcourt status until both feet and the ball are across the centerline, is it a violation if a) only one foot is in the frontcourt by the time the official gets to 10 in his count? b) if the ball is being dribbled in the frontcourt, but neither foot has crossed the centerline by the time the official gets to 10?

By rule, yes.

In practice, as long as the player then immediately continues across the line the violation will be ignored.

9......

Of course, one of the favorite backcourt situations is when the official is at nine and A1 throws the long pass to A2 in the frontcourt, but A2 hasn't quite caught the ball yet before the official counts 10........
