I actually had a debate with our former Connecticut governor last week. He believed that "Season's Greetings" and "Happy Holidays" are poor substitutes for "Merry Christmas". I explained to him that I work in a very diverse workplace, with Muslims, and Hindus. I know that my colleagues would certainly not be offended if I were to wish them "Merry Christmas", but such a greeting could border on being slightly rude, knowing that they are not Christians.

I'm as Christian as the next Christian (note my signature), but I'm also quite tolerant, and I celebrate the diversity in this great country.

(I just wish those Jehovah's Witnesses would stop ringing my doorbell.)
I don't want to get into a debate here and that certainly isn't the reason for this post but just sharing my thoughts.

I don't say Happy Holidays just so it won't offend someone. This is Christmas and has been celebrated for 2000 years - by those who believe and those who don't. All calendars have it as Christmas so I don't refuse to say it just because there may be some who don't believe in Christ. It would be like saying we aren't going to say Happy 4th of July because someone might not be an American and doesn't celebrate the 4th of July. It is still the 4th of July regardless of my thoughts on it.

Again, just my take. not trying to argue with you by any means

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them. (Matthew 7:12)

Nor Way that's just a coincidence. In any event, now that you're done with it, you could say you are Finnish. (Those are some Swede puns)

Last second shot

To me, a most dramatic Christmas story occurs not at the beginning Nativity; but at the end, at the Crucifixion when one of the criminals hanging alongside Jesus and with virtually no time left on the clock makes a desperate, last-second attempt to secure his salvation and says, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." And Jesus.......
counts it as good!!! "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." A gift of eternal life! What an awesome and gracious God!

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone, and, in fact, the views expressed in this thread match my own, the thread has become "too religious."

Merry Christmas (to those who celebrate it). Happy Holidays (to those who celebrate anything). Happy New Year (where applicable).
