I saw the article and wondered if anyone would post this on the Hockey Forum.

NOPE, here it is!

Hence why I marked it first as OT, also I figured more responses would happen here compared to it posted on the Hockey Forum

Good point; no one cares about hockey.

Unless of course you actually play.

I also started this thread with a question as to what's the longest delay anyone has ever been through.

I'm not sure all those who play hockey even care about the NHL. I play billiards now and then but couldn't care less about whatever professional league they have.

Hockey is just soccre for Canadians.

As for the longest delay I've had; just a few minutes for lights, injuries, blood on the floor, or me tying my shoes.

I know not all that play in the Western Hockey League care about playing in the NHL. Some are playing to be able to get into college. (WHL has a scholarship program for the players)

To some of the WHL players, it's a bonus to be able to play in the NHL.

Majority of the delays I've seen/heard about in basketball have been for injuries, lights, or other technical difficulties.

Yet somehow all the US television networks play re-runs of The Miracle On Ice time and time again.

That is because the US beat the USSR at something that the USSR had been dominant at for so long. Similar to when Boston beat the Yankees a few years back (sorry Jurassic). It could have been tiddlywinks for all we care.

In all seriousness, I enjoy watching a hockey game but I don't follow it regularly.

1) Hell, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every now and then. Like every 85 years or so.....

2) I useta like hockey until they got into the left-wing locks and all the holding/hooking crap..and turned it into an NBA game. They are getting away from that now though, as my wife keeps telling me. She was born in Montreal and lived there until she was a teenager. She still has relatives there and they all live and die with Les Habitants. I had to put in a dish so she could watch as many Canadiens games as she could. She never misses one. She wouldn't watch a football, basketball or beisbol game though if her life depended on it. Silly monkey wife!

And they play re-runs of It's a Wonderful Life, too. That doesn't mean we care about Savings and Loans.

And as Welpe points out, it's more about the story of beating the Soviets. Put a Red Dawn twist on any sporting event and Americans will watch it.
