Time out procedure

NFHS

Partner calls a foul as the Lead on the endline. I am table side and the coach near me immediately asks for a timeout. I told him to tell the other official after he reports the foul. That didn't seem quite right to me.

Should I have conveyed this information to my partner, then let him call the timeout? or just wait until he reports the foul then I call the time out?

I highlighted it in red.

Acknowledge the coach so he doesn't continue asking while getting louder and louder. As soon as your partner completes the reporting, make sure you have your shooter, if applicable, and blow your whistle for the TO.

"OK, coach, we'll get it after reporting the foul."

In our neck of the woods in MD, we don't have full timeouts ... only 60 or 30 secs. One of our rules interpreters pet peeves.

I'd probably call them full and half timeouts, but only in his presence. :D

When in Rome, but that seems petty.

So what are you saying, all Romans are petty? Next thing you'll be saying all Cretans are liars.

Is the timeout half full, or half empty?
