First games tonight

T-5 hours until the season starts for me.

Right now all I know is C-Squad & JV are gonna be playing at the same time although the updated schedule says otherwise.

Just have Women's Bball tonight, Men's 1st game will be the 10th or 11th.

SCalScoreKeeper Tue Dec 07, 2010 02:03pm

Season's well underway in Southern California!

9 Games last week:

2-Varsity Girls games as scorekeeper (home games-both down to the wire, one was OT,we lost by 1-don't tell Padgett :):):))
3-JV Girls games as statistician
4-Varsity Boys games as scorekeeper (in a big public school tournament)

This week-13 Games:

1 Varsity Girls game as scorekeeper (tournament game)
12 Varsity Boys games as scorekeeper (We host our own boys tourneys this week)

By the end of the year I will have worked 41 games as a scorekeeper or statistician.

Fun times!

Wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident.

TimTaylor Tue Dec 07, 2010 02:24pm

You guys are starting late....tonight will be my 7th game in 7 days......

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 02:30pm

For one the football team made it to the 1A State Championship game. We were supposed to have games last week but the weather changed that as well as football.

Saturday's gonna be fun as gonna be at CHS all day cause of the wrestling invite then basketball.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 02:40pm

Pop a few ibuprofen, don't forget to wear knee brace and make sure to ice down after games.

And don't forget *ahem* the First Rule of Officiating.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 03:08pm

Can someone please remind me what the 1st rule of officiating is?

"The floor official is always right" LMAO:cool::rolleyes:

Fixed it for you; but that's not the first rule. It's the 2nd rule.

The problem is that the 4th rule is that we don't discuss the 1st rule with outsiders.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 03:14pm

Sorry but to me the rule I posted is the 1st rule, especially when dealing with belligerent coaches.

How can a person be an outsider if they're posting on here?

Simple, it's obvious that we don't vet membership here in any meaningful way.

We discuss it all the time at our secret squirrel website.

We have a poll.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 03:33pm

Let me guess you have to have over 10,000 posts LMAO

Okay, for the record; laughing at your own jokes doesn't make them funny.

And the restrictions at the secret squirrel site don't have any requirements that have anything to do with this site. If it did, # of posts wouldn't be applicable. I'm living proof that any yahoo from the street can get to 10k posts.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 03:53pm

I still got a ways till I hit the 10,000 mark, if I make it that far, oh well.

+1 The phrase "easily amused" comes to mind.

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 04:17pm

Anywho, unsure right now what's gonna happen tonight. As far as it's currently scheduled JV starts at 4:15 followed by V at 6 then C-Squad at 7:15.

The original schedule had the JV in Gym #1 & C-Squad in Gym #2 at the same time (4:15), with V starting at 6 in Gym #1.

Given the audience, it might bear pointing out that JR means you to take them externally.

I'm sure your ipod/imac/ipad/itaser/iphone device will be a significant aid in keeping track of all possible schedule permutations.

Welpe Tue Dec 07, 2010 05:05pm

Be sure your TASER is charged, you have extra cartridges and might I suggest packing a ham sammich and a root beer in case it goes into OT?

chseagle Tue Dec 07, 2010 11:46pm

No real major issues tonight. Wife had an incompetent scorer for the JV game, however the issues got resolved real quick.

Had what was called as a shot-clock violation during the V game, shot clock buzzer sounded as ball was hitting the flange.

You gotta hit 50 games to get that taser!

Did the resolving involve waterboarding?

No the JV Coach "coached" the person on how to do the scorebook.

Was unable to test using the iPod as a TO Timer due to it not being charged. However during the V game, the timer was using an iPhone for a TO Timer with no problems.

During the C-Squad game, I used my watch's stopwatch function as a TO Timer. My wife (JV Game) used the stop clock operator's watch for a TO Timer.

For the first 2 minutes of the JV Game there was no possession arrow due to not being plugged in  Which was how my wife was feeling at the time as the AD was over at the Junior High getting it prepped for a game.

No iPod, dead battery

The schedule was JV in Gym #1 & C-Squad in Gym #2 at the same time with both being 2-person crews officiating. V followed in Gym #1 with 3-person crew.

Only needed 4 officials the whole night.
