Trainer right?

Scrimmage last weekend - A1 driving down lane - starts to go up - ball tipped by defender into A1 belly.

Trainer says travel call is correct - but I am second guessing myself that it should have been nothing.

No control no travel.

Depends:
If the ball gets tipped into his stomach, and he actually catches it there before jumping, it would be a travel when he lands.

Why are you questioning a rule interpretation by an acknowledged rules expert like a trainer? They know the rules almost as well as the popcorn guy.

I think he meant "the person in my association responsible for teaching new officials" and not "the person on the bench responsible for ministering aid to injured players."

Ya' know, I didn't even think of that, but I hope to heck you're right. That would make sense.
