Backboard Plays
Ok...I got caught watching Sportscenter and they showed a Laker highlight. I figure if it happens in the NBA some high schooler may try it soon so it got me thinking.
1. A1 dribbles in lane and picks the ball up. He pauses then pivots and throws the ball high and to the far right of the backboard. He then runs and catches and dunks before returning to the floor. NFHS Rules - Do we have anything? 2. A1 catches a pass in the lane. He pauses then pivots and throws the ball high and to the far right of the the backboard. He then runs and catches and dunks before returning to the floor. NFHS Rules - Do we have anything? Obviously we would have to determine if the throw to the backboard is a try for goal or a pass. Let's assume (or determine) the throw was NOT a try for goal. On #1, I'm thinking double dribble since the dribble ended, the throw was not a legitimate try for goal, but instead another dribble. On #2. I've got nothing we play on since I count the throw off the backboard as the dribble. Thoughts??? |
It's nothing either way. Recently discussed here:
