Technical Foul - Free Throw Shooter

A1 is assessed a technical foul. Can anyone from team B's bench shoot the free throw attempts? If so, let's say B6 replaces B2 and shoots the shots. B2 must remain on the bench until time elapses off the clock correct?

In HS two different players may attempt the FTs as well.

Furthermore, you could subsequently replace B6 with B7 for the second shot.
B7 could ultimately be replaced by B8 prior to the ensuing throw-in. B2, B6 and B8 would be required to 'sit a tick' with no obligation to 'play a tick'.
8-2-3 (p51 of current Fed Rules book)
3-4-4 (p21 "" "" )

Hickory Dickory Dock ...

Must sit a tick, don’t have to play a tick.

(Rare exception: injury with only five healthy players available)

Weird. Has anyone come across an instance where they have switched shooters between the first and second attempt?

I haven't seen it, but it does not matter. The rules allow it that is all.

Peace

Haven't seen it. Most think that the rule is the NCAA version which doesn't allow this.

Yes.

The "wrong" (i.e., not the coach's choice) shooter went to the line for the first one.

I saw it once. The coach's shooter hadn't been playing well all game, and the coach was on him about it. Opposing coach got T'd up, and coach sent his shooter, who missed the first FT. That was the last straw, and he sent another kid to shoot the second FT.

Any player or eligible substitute may attempt the free throws.
If it is a substitute, then bring the substitute in.
The player who left, like all players who have been substituted for, cannot return until the clock has run.

Also, as an aside; there is no reason not to let any subs in during Technical foul free throws. The final-shot rule only pertains to personal foul free throws. 3-3-1c
