Well, I hope they center the court properly. Would hate to see the NCAA step in with another Wrigley Field edict.

If a player violates the backcourt rule, he'd better be able to swim.

It's my understanding it was the conference, not the NCAA that made the Wrigley change.

According to the article they would like to do a doubleheader with two service academies playing beforehand.

How about Navy vs. Air Force?

I would prefer Navy v Army. After all, the Navy are the ones who have to transport the green grunts to where they are going!
Again, I would love to see this played overseas and made military only. ESPN could/would broadcast it and it would be great PR all around. Especially, if $$ went to the Wounded Warrior fund or something of that ilk. If they just have it on the Intrepid or something in NY, I wouldn't be as big a fan. Also, remember these things are HUGE! They could play it "indoors" and STILL have flight operations. That would be fun!

Really?

When I flew overseas for my deployment, there were plenty of soldiers on my Air Force transport. I've not heard of any troops going in by Navy ship in quite some time.

Alot of the equipment still is delivered via Navy. But you make my point: The Army wouldn't know where to go without someone pointing them in the right direction!!

Yeah, they could get there, but would take a lot longer by helicopter.

Judtech, the only problem is if they had the game setup where it was for personnel overseas would be security depending on the location.

Perhaps have the carrier ported in Japan or how about a memorial game to be played on Dec. 7 with carrier in/near Pearl Harbor.

Actually having Army vs. Navy would make the most sense as both are the oldest services, since technically the Air Force was originally part of the Army (Army Air Corps).

Yeah the hanger deck could be used to host the game.

I am going to make the assumption that you have never been to Pearl Harbor, so that I can believe that you have no concept of how awful and offensive an idea this is.

Pearl Harbor is the most solemn, reverent, location I have ever been to in my life.

The idea of holding a college basketball game on a naval ship there is beyond ridiculous.

What if Army played Navy in that capacity? Not saying that should happen, but I am wondering.

Peace

I am sure those in the service would render their opinions on that eventuality. But, I think it might not be much different than holding the Army-Navy football game in Flanders Fields.

It would never happen. Pearl Harbor is a graveyard. It would be like lining a football field at Arlington National Cemetery and playing a game on it.

Service men and women "man the rails"- standing at attention in full uniform on the deck of military vessels- as they pass through the harbor in respect.

I have never been to Hawaii period, however since next year is the 60th anniversary of "The Day which shall live in infamy" something special should be done. Especially since we have fewer Pearl Harbor Survivors every year & too many seem to forget about December 7th.

They could do the Army-Navy Basketball Game on the carrier & the Army-Navy Football Game in Honolulu in the same weekend/week.

Every battlefield, no matter what war, is a place of solemn reflection, a place of reverence.

Perhaps the funds raised from the games could go to upkeep/preservation of Pearl Harbor. Guests of Honor could be Pearl Harbor Survivors &/or their families. A moment of silence can be held in memory of all who lost their lives.
