Directional Signal

Now first off I know what the rule book states for the directional signal we are suppose to use (full hand). But realistically what form do you all use??

- Full hand (NFHS)
- 2 finger (NCAA Womens I know of, not sure on the men's side)
- 1 finger (used a little in NCAA Womens, again not sure for men)

This is the one signal of which I have seen various interpretations.

HS -- four fingers, thumb tucked.

NCAAW --two fingers

I thought we discussed here......

Five fingers for the violation,
Four for the direction,
Two for the spot.

I try to use that.

Have I misremembered?

Please note that this is not an official NFHS signal. I'm pretty sure that it's not an official IAABO signal either.

I use two to point the direction and one the indicate the spot. Works for me and accepted locally.

One finger for indicating the spot. And not the finger BillyMac is hinting at.

That must be a local difference. Here, it's the 5-4-2 grunewar mentioned for FED, and 5-2-1 for NCAAW (and 0-2-1 on OOB violations)

1 finger for all points and 4 fingers for spots.

AHSAA_Ref Mon Nov 22, 2010 01:51pm

Generally, I'm 4 fingers direction and 1 finger spot.
