Printing the Officials Manual

Hi all,

I saved a copy of the 2009-11 Basketball Officials Manual from the NFHS website. I noticed that it is password protected and cannot be printed. I understand that this is probably on purpose so people can't distribute and sell or whatever else they want to do with it.

I just think that personally it would be good if I had a paper copy that I could easily refer to and maybe review during my train commute.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this printing restriction? If not, where can I get/buy a paper copy of the Manual?

Thanks.

Your best bet is to order one from NFHS. However, minimum order is 10 bucks and shipping will be 7.95. The manual costs 7.20. So, you might want to order two and see if you can find someone to split the cost with you.

[I would suggest splitting the cost with chseagle, but he can't afford a rule book].

Even ordering just one might be cheaper than printing it yourself. People that try to save money by printing something themselves don't save nearly as much as they think....you just don't notice how much of the ink that you have to buy went to printing any one item..

You could always cut-and-paste from within Adobe Reader into another document. This is the method I use to create a file which has the Rules Book merged with the corresponding case references. (Still working on the 2005 version)

Tedious, I will grant you, but ever more attractive than getting into a business arrangement with Eagleboy.

I already have a 2010-2011 Rules Book, so no need for me to order one :eek:

Thanks to a friend I have a copy of the 2009-2011 Officials Manual.

Is it a pdf file?

If so attach it to an email and send it to [email protected]
I know some people who are very good with computers. I'll get them to take a look at the file.

Nope, just offering to help him print a document which he has presumably purchased or obtained legally for his own personal use.

It's been a bit since reading the 2009-2011 Officials Manual.

Since I got the 2010-2011 Rules book, have already read all the way through it twice, & each day I've been reading parts at random for refreshment.

And, for which, the Fed has intentionally co-opted printing privileges.....to the point of protecting it with a 254 bit encrypted password.
Sorry, Nevada, I am a software developer and software piracy goes against my grain.
I did suggest a productive method for getting this info into a printable format that didn't employ any potentially illicit acts...

The moot question is "Do you understand them?"

But he didn't say he PAID for one.

The 2010-2011 rules book was given to me from one of the local associations that I've attended a few meetings of.

It kinda surprised me to hear that it's a rarity that anyone doing table attends the meetings, & they've been grateful that I'm taking the effort to better myself.
