New site / facebook
Came across this site....looks like a facebook for refs...
START DEVELOP FINISH - An innovative tool to help centralize criteria and promote Consistency for all levels of officiating. Anyone try it yet? Which brings me to...do you facebook? My guess is the HS guys do, the college guys dont. True assumption? |
True for me. :D

I use Facebook but then I'm a lowly sub-varsity official. ;)
If anybody wants to add me as a friend, send me a PM. |

Kids away at college is what got me on Facebook a few years ago. Easy way to keep in touch, and now I have also connected with old military buddies, people from high school etc. I'm not obsessed with it but it has its positive uses. I have friends who would never sign up on it or use it; of course there are still people who don't use email. I believe the fact that McCain didn't know how to use it came up in the last election. We had a local alderman in my town who was finally forced by the city to learn how to use his email account recently. To each his own I guess.

I'm a FaceBooker. Great way to keep up with who my teenager socializes with. Also a great central place to post family pix for my family/friends that live out of town that we don't get to see in person very often.
Have re-kindled some old high school and college friendships, as well. |
Hi, I'm BITS and I'm a Facebook addict.
I've been on FB for a few years now and have enjoyed catching up with old friends from high school, college, previous jobs and even some of my officiating buddies. But, I don't usually post much about my officiating exploits, just like I don't post much about work. It's just safer not to. |

I am going to have to have a new category for my Officiating.come friends. :D

I'm more a voyeur than a poster. I'm not one that posts everything I do...... and, the only TWEETING I do is on the court! ;) |

Beware
At our last association meeting we were specifically warned against posting any game/officiating references on Book Face (as Dwight refers to it in the Office). The story was brought up about a local official (by that local official) who mentioned good game (one that he had officiated) to a friend (child played in the game) on facebook. Someone else connected to that facebook user who was a fan for the losing team got ahold of that and made a big deal about it.
Sorry about the parenthesis - I had a few extra lying around and need to use them before their expiration date!<O:p</O:p |

I do Facebook. I've always been real big on networking. Felt that I never know where someone I knew would be able to help me out or vice versa. I'm not real big on how some people just add all kinds of people for the sake of adding them. I have about 600 friends on there and can honestly say I know all of them from some point in real life.

About 15-20 of my FB friends are also officials. Everyone is pretty cautious about posting game stuff. I've seen one friend mention a forthcoming game, but never have I seen anyone comment about a game. That's just asking for trouble. |

I think FaceBook is great
It's been said that the largest new group to start using Facebook is the 40-60 year olds. I'm one of those. I made a sugestion to my BB Officials group here is So. Cal. that we should have a group site for our unit. We could share videos and game questions and requests. It could be a great tool for the newbies who have lots of questions. Like useing the Arbitor for instance.

I use Facebook. It's a great way for me to keep in touch with old HS and college friends.
