Court markings every court needs to have?
According to Rule 1 every court is supposed to have specific markings, yet some of those required markings are missing.
What markings that are required are not seen/used? What can be done to make those required markings? Are there any penalties for not having required markings?

Land Of Steady Habits Only "Special" Rule ...
Coaching Box must be marked. If home coach and/or home management refuse to designate coaching box
with tape, the home team will not use a coaching box for that game. However, the visiting team will be allowed a coaching box. Notify Board Secretary, or Commissioner the next day.

I'm not meaning these questions towards one school, am asking cause of knowing multiple schools in potential violation(s).

Another reason I love our local kids rec league - no coaching box. It's one of the advantages of having a bunch of refs on the Board.

I asked this as was wondering if a school could be penalized in some way for not having the markings, by a floor official, or does that vary by state.
LMAO

In the grand scheme of things, having the x marked for substitutes and having the coach's box (unless your in Connecticut apparently) is not important at all.
I guess an official could call the game off because the floor wasn't properly marked? ![]()

Some Of Our Gyms Still Have 28 Foot Hash Marks ...
Quote:
2) Official may, or may not, mention it to the site director. 3) Official may, or may not, mention it to his local board secretary, and/or, local assigner. 3) Local board secretary, and/or local assigner, may, or may not, report the situation to the state interscholastic sports governing body. At this point, it's completely out of the hands of the officials, the local board secretary, and/or local assigner, and it's up to the state interscholastic sports governing body to do what they do. Maybe nothing is done. Maybe gym tape is put down. Maybe the school won't be allowed to host a state tournament game. Maybe a nasty letter is placed in the school's permanent record. Maybe the school is placed on double secret probation. Maybe the correct markings are placed on the floor the next time the floor is refinished, which in the case of some schools, may be several years down the road. Please note that in all cases, we're playing basketball that night, and every night that season, until someone from the state interscholastic sports governing body tells us otherwise. No officials are putting down tape. No technical fouls. No forfeits.

In some areas, for FED the official writes the state. (And, to be clear, it doesn't really matter for teh C-level game in the back gym). If it's an issue to you, take it up with the AD. Or, just be sure it gets covered the next time the floor is refinished. |

The Coaching Box would me marked in Day-Glo green and would also include a wireless electric fence similiar to a wireless dog fence and every time the Head Coach would step out of the Coaching Box boundary he would get shocked because he would be wearing my patent-pending device that I use to break, I mean teach, new basketball officials to not watch the ball and to officiate off the ball when it is not in their primary.
