NFHS test help

Hey all, new member to the site. Been officiating basketball for 11 years, and starting to work a few small league varsity games. Not too many varsity dates, about 3 a year for the past 4 years, still working mostly subvarsity.

Is anybody else having trouble with the NFHS test this year? First, the multiple choice questions really threw me off this year. Second, I'm only about halfway through the test, and already I've found several questions that I just can't seem to find the answer to in either the rulebook or the case book. I know they have to be in there, I just can't seem to spot them. I'm sure I'm just making it too hard on myself. Can anybody help me out with finding rules citations for some of the questions? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Sure, we can help you out. If you'll post the questions you're struggling with (best to post one per thread), there are lots of folks here who would be happy to point you in the right direction and even discuss details.

The reason for the one per thread has largely to do with the search feature on the site. So, if you title your thread "Backcourt Question", other threads with similar titles will come to the fore and you may even find answers in those threads. And, welcome.

I think I did this wrong, I think I should have started a totally new topic for each question. My fault guys.

No worries. We'll hang tight while you post your questions to separate threads, and then we'll jump in.

Sounds like you need to review rule 4.

#6 - When does the throw-in end?

#7 - Review POI

#21 - Check out rule 2

Thanks. Here are a few I am struggling with.

#6. During an alternating-possession throw-in by A1, B2 intentionally kicks the throw-in pass. A1 will be awarded a new throw-in opportunity, but the arrow will remain pointed in the direction of A's basket.

My answer was false, but I could not find an exact rules interpretation for it.

This was a change or clarification a couple of seasons ago. The substitute throw-in is awarded for the kicking violation, so the arrow does not change. If A violates, they lose the arrow because they did not complete the throw-in legally.
