I would like the test answers and questions. I will not be taking that test anymore so it is a study tool. :D

Aamof, I most certainly do have the key. And if I send it to anyone, it will be in an anthrax-loaded envelope.:D

My prediction is that there WILL be a debate here on question #44. The answer on the key is wrong.

According to 4-19-14 I'd have to say false. I wonder if that question is on IAABOs test too...

The IAABO refresher test is always different from the NFHS Part 1 & 2 exams. They've been known to screw up answers on almost a yearly basis too on their exams, as evidenced by old threads. Peter Webb, the IAABO head interpreter, has already issued a proclamation from the mount on this particular NFHS question and it's published answer.

I think the word "may" is a key element on this question. And personal fouls are not always common fouls. [FL has its own test. We receive PART I as a study guide. Along with the Answer Key. I have never seen PART II.]

"may," "might," "should," "will," "shall," "can....." etc, etc.

No. I did not say I was not working HS anymore. I said that I am not taking that test anymore. We stopped being members of the NF from an official's point of view so we no longer are allowed to take the NF test. I would still like to see the test for the NF for a study tool. Seeing the test is not going to help me with the state run test we are now taking.

Peace

I understand from old dudes that it use to be this way a long time ago. 30 questions and they test you on like 25 of them. It makes no sense, but who really cares anyway. Most get the test and go to thier respective association and work it out amung themselves.

PS: I am moving from the area down to O'fallon. Anyone have a suggestion on an association. The only one I could find was the Southwestern officials association.

As is very frequently the case, this can be answered simply by looking up the definitions. In this case, the definitions of both types of fouls are in Rule 4-19.

I'm glad this one is being debated. It was bothering me from the first time I answered it.

Where is the debate? By definition, 4-19-14: An unsporting foul is a....... technical foul......

What am I missing?

The "official" answer key. ;)

Bad Zebra Thu Oct 21, 2010 01:50pm

Is there any "official" acknowledgement from the Fed that the "official" answer key is wrong? If they are anything like our state assn., hell freeze over before they admit an error.

just another ref Thu Oct 21, 2010 05:07pm

A few years back, our state test had 4 (that I caught) wrong, out of 175.

My state used to throw questions out every year. And it was for things like this that we are reading. The NF just tries to play with words and often trips themselves up. Kind of glad we no longer have to take that silly test. I hope it remains that way for some time.

Peace

Here is another view:

From 4.19.1: ...A personal foul is a player foul which involves illegal contact

From 4.19.14: ... An unsporting foul is a noncontact technical foul

Can a foul be both a contact foul and a noncontact foul?

rsl Thu Oct 21, 2010 06:22pm

oops. I forgot the first rule- 'always listen to Bob'. I guess I'll answer true!

Splute Thu Oct 21, 2010 11:05pm

This was actually my question #22. After the test said I got it wrong, I posted on the NFHS forum and Bob let me know that sometimes the answer key is wrong. I thought I was losing my mind, lol. My chapter tried to convince me it was correct and it had to do with the player/team foul count... wtf?? lol
