Timeouts and Freethrows

Timeouts during Freethrow attempts:

When the lead official is about to bounce the ball to free-throw shooter for 2 shots, the coach of his team tells the other referee that he wants a time out if the first free throw is successful. The 1st shot is made..

Should the Referee grant the timeout between free throw shots??

Can the coach of the other team (Not shooting freethrows) be granted TO?

In this situation I would look over at the coach that asked for it and ask if he still wanted it, if he nods or says yes, I give it too him.
Yes in between free throws either coach can have a TO.

"Sure. Just request it at that time."

Thanks

Thanks for sharing your knowledge...As a Newbie some items can be quite confusing along with getting very different answers from different officals to the same question!

Get use to it. There are very few Forum members who are shy about sharing their knowledge and opinions. Some are bolder than others. Some are more knowledgeable than others. Some are better at explaining the basis for their interpretations. Some are more sarcastic than others. We're a real motley crew. But we all love basketball, and we all love basketball officiating. We often have to agree to disagree. Occasionally the moderators have to intercede.

Also, never ask Mark Padgett what the first rule of officiating is. Never. If you value all that is good, and kind, and pure, in the world, never ask. Never.

He's a Nigerian prince who is always asking Forum members for their bank account number and PIN. Just try to ignore him.
