Help Before Observation

In 2 man mechanics:

1) Where is the area of coverage on free throws?
2) If you are not shooting for a foul, when you report do you actually say the location of the throw in. Or just point after giving the number, and reason for foul?
3) And 1 more. On a throw in. If the ball is thrown and A1 jumps in the air, controls possession, then lands in the backcourt. I understand no violation but is the reason for the allowance only for the first person to touch the ball. In other words if the ball deflected off of B1's head and went into the air and A1 gains possession and then lands in the backcourt. Would this be a VIOLATION for the ball touching B1 and then A1 gaining possession after it being in the frontcourt?

Thanks guys. Yall are a lot of help for newcomers!!

1. Depends on where you live.

2. At the table I just say it (sideline/endline) at the spot immediately after my whistle, I point as well as say it. Partners should be the first to know.

3. Yes, mainly because the throw-in ended with B1s touch. If A1 simply touched the ball & it goes into the back court, he can go get it. No possession...

1. By the book, Lead has the 3 players across the lane plus the defender on his side closest to the basket. Trail has the shooter plus the other 2.

2. Report color, number, foul, and "ball out of bounds" or the like. Some folks say "sideline" or "baseline" or "endline."

3. The reason for granting the exception is that the rule explicitly excepts this case. If B touches the throw-in, that ends the throw-in and the time-frame of the exception. So yes, the act that would otherwise be a violation would be a violation.

And that excpetion, IIRC, was inserted through an "editorial" change. Prior to that change, the wording of the rule was such that an airborne player who gained team control while airborne was always allowed to land without violating the backcourt rule...and that made a lot more sense. But, as you say, that is no longer the case....nothing like screwing up a perfectly good rule with an editorial change that actually changes the rule.
