What is your feeling having players keep shirts tucked during the contest? I like it. It offers a cleaner court environment overall. You can probably admit that you have seen players take their shirts out of their shorts, which some hangs down to their knees.

In Missouri, we teach to have the official ask the players to re-tuck their shirts if they pull them out. If they pull it out again, the official escorts the quilty party to the teams bench and the player must remain out of the game until the next live ball.

Some teams have shirts that are too short and won't stay tucked, which you can't help. The majority of coaches respect the request because they also think that their players should present themselves appropriately on the court.

I like shirts tucked in for "real" games. I don't worry about it for out of season games.

I'll remind a kid all night long if he'll tuck it right in, but pull it out once and its pine time. I have found that the best way to keep shirts tucked in is to send someone out of the game in the 1st Q for having it out. I have even had coaches yell down the bench, "Everyone tuck in your shirt, NOW!!!" Saves me the whole game of worrying about it.

Lightbulb Use dead ball periods to accomplish this.

Before Jump balls.

Before FTs.

Before substitutions.

Before Throw-Ins.

Right after timeouts.

All of these are good times to have players tuck in their shirts in. I personally am not an official that usually advocates taking players out of games because of this alone, but I usually will just simple say this to the players. "If you are getting held by another player, do not complain with your shirt hanging out." Usually they get the point and keep them tucked.

Peace

I'm with Stripes. We follow the same policy. Also, don't try to come in the game with that jersey untucked. I'll sit you right back down. And more times than not, the coach will get pissed and make him come back to the bench, too. A pretty strong lesson.

I make them keep their jerseys tucked during the summer too. If they start the bad habit there it will continue into the season. I just tell them that they are going to have to do it during the regular season so they might as well get use to it now.

So what if it's shirts & skins?

But, it's Girls' Season!

I like the shirts in, but I tire of having to remind them to "Tuck 'em in." They wear me down... along with their shirts.

Had a partner, the other day, delay several throw-ins for "tucking".
Although I agreed with the final result, it was just too frequent.
Tucking, at best, is per rule,... at worst it's aggravating.
Why can't we expect the Coaches to comply? Geez!

When you tell their players taht they have to wait till the next dead ball to come in because their shirt is not tucked the coach will start to comply.

Maybe we'll get one of those cards to read from the state regarding the fact that there will be no warning for poor shirtsmanship.
