Then how do you expect to be a role model?

Bleccch!

I suffered thru all the instructional videos and nearly lost my lunch where a partner came to offer help on the OOB. Original call, BLUE!. Partner inserts himself and says, "Tipped off white, tipped off white"
partner says "White"

WTF?

Video "setup"?

It looks like to me that the video is scripted and that the players are not actually playing a game. They are setting up plays for the officials to call for the video.
On the 1st play where the official calls a block, he has no partner in trail. So he is either reffing solo or these are set up scripted plays. The contact on the play was extremely marginal and the offensive player looks like she misses on purpose.
#Edit# Okay never mind I just saw the video for "Working by yourself" and the above clip came from it. So he WAS working by himself and that contact WAS marginal #Edit#

Most of these "training" videos are ! The production and quality are good but the content is wrong in a number of ways.

I think a group of people got together to do a video and probably did not have someone review the material from an educated point of view. So just like regular movies you have inconsistencies in actual real interactions. Nice try but as you can tell many of us found things we would never do or say. Like stop play just to warn a player for 3 second. I do not call that violation let alone stop play to warn someone. After all that is a real game interruptor.

Peace

And if you did that, you'd be suffering from gamus interruptus!

Unless you are really "short" you do not have to worry about it.

Signals Videos ???

I checked out the website and found a section on signals. The official in the video does at least two things that I found odd.

For a held ball he first stops the clock with an open hand and then follows with the held ball "thumbs up" signal. Here in our little corner of Connecticut we just give the "thumbs up" signal.

To call a technical foul he first stops the clock with an open hand, and then follows with the "T" signal. Here we stop the clock with the closed fist foul signal and then follow with the "T" signal.

Comments from other parts of the country?

The official is odd because he's not using NFHS approved and accepted signalling.

The "thumbs up" signal ...#3 of approved NFHS signals in the rule book...is captioned "stop clock for jump/held ball". He's telling you to signal to stop the clock twice iow.

All foul signals should be preceded by signal #5- "stop clock for fouls".

Not the best site for accuracy, fer sure.

Thanks.

Didn't realize that Hell was part of the National Federation.

It's what the "H" in what "NFHS" stands for.
