OT - former NBE player wins primary election
 

Former NBE free throw clunker, Chris Dudley, won the Oregon Republican party primary yesterday for the office of Governor. Dudley beat eight other candidates and received 40% of the vote. Coming in second was businessman Allen Alley. Dudley will face the Democratic primary winner, former two-term Oregon Governor Dr. John Kitzhaber in November.

Dudley ran on what could be described as an "outsider" campaign, claiming his lack of previous connection with government would be an asset in office.

Mark, you spelled his opponent's name incorrectly...I've fixed it for you.

I saw the article earlier in the day and was going to attach it to the thread we had on the subject of politics......but, I knew Mark would be along shortly and didn't want to deprive him of the pleasure of another thread. :p

All right, I'll say it. Dudley's primary win was a slam dunk.

Trivia: Which was higher? Dudley's career FT% or the % of votes he received in the primary!!!

His career FT% in the NBE was just under 46%. He may get higher than that in the general election in November, but I don't think he will win, although I would bet it will be very close. Maybe I should call Tim Donaghy and get the spread.

I presume he won in a walk.

If he does not put on a full court press he might not win.

Your prediction of a Dudley victory is not likely. Registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans in Oregon something like 56% to 42% with about 2% belonging to other parties or non-affiliated. The Republicans don't have even one statewide elected official.

However, Mary Jane may tip the vote. She's very popular here in Oregon. In fact, there's a guy down the street who grows her in his garage. Of course, he has a permit. Fortunately, like tons of other Oregonians, he rides a bicycle to work. :D
