I had completely forgotten about Bob Montgomery until you posted that baseball card pic. It's all coming back now....he's one of those guys that seemed to come in every single pack.

I used to peel back the wrapper a bit so I could see the top card in the pack. If I already had quite a few of the top card, I went on to the next. They say it was random distribution of cards, but I always thought of one of the MAD Magazine articles which parodied Peanuts called "Misery is". One of the selections was "Misery is getting a new pack of baseball cards and getting 5 Marv Throneberrys."

I must've been the sucker that bought all those packs you peeked into.

Here's another one of those guys that seemed to come in every pack:

Yeah, I used to get this guy in every pack. I must have had a couple of hundred of him. I've lost them all, but it's no big deal - right? After all - we just bought those packs for the high quality bubble gum.

You mean you didn't stick those in your bicycle spokes?

I'm just glad they did invent the cup. I had a catcher in a spring league baseball game yesterday that hadn't been behind the plate in 3 years. The pitcher bounced a pitch right before the plate, the catcher didn't move to block it, so I blocked it with my cup. Thankfully it worked. After a minute of me "walking it off" and a short conversation with the catcher about doing his job, I was able to get back to work.

Btw, I did call it a "ball". Jump right on in with those comments.

I assume the pitch made it "ball three"? If it was "ball four", it's time to call Ripley.
