I've likewise had that problem. It happens only at work using a MAC with Safari. At home on my PC, I haven't, as yet, had that issue. My solution has been to copy and paste the URL from a yahoo search. So I avoid it that way. AND, now it got my PC too.

Me too

I've had it happen as well. I use Opera and type in basketball officials forum in the address line, and the browser is supposed to send me to the "i'm feeling lucky" google chocie. Instead I get the google search page, which puts the forum as the first choice, but clicking on it brings that alleged hack page, which I have dismissed as some sort of pay for play arrangement where they provide web hosting and get a forced ad in return (but I am naive about hackers, trojans, worms and viruses.) When i enter basketball officials forum a second time, it goes to the google page and clicking on the first entry brings me to the right place (it won't let me go back when it goes to the wrong one)

Woudn't be easier to just go to Officiating.com and then click on the Discussion Forums on the left hand side of the webpage? That is what I do.

I've been wondering the same thing. Who "searches" fro this forum after they've visited it once (or twice)? I just type in "officialforum.com" (well, not even that much -- just the first few letters and then scroll down to the entry).

Why not just bookmark the Discussions Forums or the Basketball Forum. Then go to "bookmarks" in Firefox or "favorites" in IE and one click-->you're there.

That sounds like you've got some sort of malware on YOUR computer.

This doesnt have to do with malware in the beginning.

what it is is a security have of the Vbulletin script that exploits a security issue. the site you are forwarded to tries to download malware on your computer (depending on your security structure of your network and computer this can or cannot actually happen).

its something that the forum administration/programming body should be aware as the problem is originating from their vbulletin software on their server. in the end this will most likely GREATLY effect new traffic as they will never get to the officiating.com site as traffic is being diverted. So in short its a pretty big deal.

And Maybe Block Out Scorers And Timers Too ???

Which would make this a pretty exclusive site, until we all die off one by one, or in a plane crash on the way to the annual Official Forum convention in Hawaii. At that point, we'll all just be a bunch of bits, and bytes, floating around in cyberspace.

When this glitch finally gets fixed, is there anyway we can keep coaches, players, and fanboys from posting?

Great Idea Billy!

Maybe we could have a short test people would have to take and pass with a 80% or higher in order for them to post. Considering the audience you mentioned we could have tough questions like:

How many players are in the starting five?
What do players wear on their feet while playing?
What is the round, orange thing called the reff tosses to start a game?
What is the name of the white, net that goes on the rim?
How many points is a three point shot worth?

Any other questions to add to the test?

Mark Padgett Sun Mar 28, 2010 12:08pm

How many players are in the starting five? Four - based on statistics, one guy really isn't a player.

What do players wear on their feet while playing? Anti-fungal creme.

What is the round, orange thing called the reff tosses to start a game? An overpriced sports accessory.

What is the name of the white, net that goes on the rim? Steve.

How many points is a three point shot worth? Depends on whether or not having that team get three points at that point in the game would send it into OT.

How did I do?

Nice Hat Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. ...

After posting earlier this morning, I decided to go through some old photographs. Here's one taken at the very first Official Forum convention in Hawaii, showing Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. with some hula dancers. Man, those guys had some crazy conventions back in the olden days.

100% Good job Mark, you can now officially post on this forum. Way to really dig into that rule book!
