Xavier Pittsburgh
With a few seconds to go, Pittsburgh trailing, they put up a shot that caromed off rim and bounced high on or near endline and was caught by lead a few feet deep. He casually caught it and I'm assuming thought game was over.
They went to monitor and put .04 back on with Pitt getting a good look and for the tie. Trying to figure how they determined .04. Ball must have hit endline but there was no signal and lead was very nonchalant catching ball. Since the clock doesn't stop until it contacts something OB, this could have been a game changer if indeed the ball wasn't on endline. Anyone catch this? |
I think the entire audience saw it, but only officials realized what you are talking about. If I remember correctly, Teddy V was the Lead on the play and I didn't think there was a whistle either. It looked like they went to the monitor to look and see if the ball hit the end line and to see how much time should be on the clock. It was hard to tell if it was out of bounds from the angle of the camera they showed on TV.

Ball did hit the line. Replay showed it hit at 0.4.
The lead was Teddy Valentine, he does everything casually. |
There was a whistle - but a very weak one. So they went to the monitor like they are supposed to...
