MSU Vs. New Mexico State Lane Violation

Yahoo! Sports NCAAB Tournament Coverage

Take a look at number 33 for NMST. He clearly steps out of his lane slot and onto the box line. Easy call to make. The announcers totally kicked it last night and said that it HAD to be 31 for entering too early. Not even close.

So...do you make that call? It's a rule and should be enforced at any point in the game, IMO. Now, whether or not I have the guts to make that call is another story. I believe I would, especially at that level. I'd definitely make the call at varsity as well...

Anyway...just another example of announcers knowing NOTHING of what they speak of...

Obvious call...and one that has to be made.

I thought an NBA game broke out for a moment with the amount of classless trash-talking that was going on.

Any thoughts on the make-up free throw? I thought it was just as bad........

The post game press-conference was horrible.

I had no problem with the violation being called.

I did have a problem with what happened after. On the next possesion down with UNM down by 3, they took a couple 3pt shots and missed. The ball goes out of bounds last touched by a MSU player. The clock stopped a 0.3 seconds after the lag time from the Lead's whistle. The crew DID NOT go to the monitor when clearly there was more time on the clock than 0.3 seconds. In my opinion, the crew should've gone to the monitor and checked the discrepancy; that is what the monitor is there for.

If the crew had gone to the monitor, they would've seen the problem and UNM would've at least had enough time for an attempt at a 3pt shot rather than a "tip-3pt shot." Not that I'm saying this call robbed UNM (because they shot horribly at the FT line) but at least give them the appropriate time to get off a shot.

Seth Davis did a pretty good job of explaining it later on last night

Yeah...I thought the officials DID kick the time on the clock. They should've at least looked at the monitors. Would've given them enough time for a catch and shoot...never know in those situations, especially the way the tourney's gone this year!
