Father against son coaching
I was reading up on some of the Alaska state tournament games that were played yesterday and noticed that a game was played where dad and son were coaches of opposing teams. That would be very difficult to deal with for either coach if they have the same relationship that I do with my father. Anybody ever officiated a game with that situation? Brother against brother I'm sure has happened before too.

I had a rec game once in which the opposing coaches were twin brothers! I had visions of being on the court with my back to the benches and hearing one of them yell something that would solicit a technical, then not knowing which one said it.
BTW - I worked with a partner last year who told me he and his wife had a set of 12 year old twins. I asked him how they told them apart. He said the boy was taller. :D |
I have never had that but I have had a Mentor/Mentee match up several times. Those are sort of fun
I have never officiated a game where my wife is coaching, although it would be a GREAT fund raiser!! There is one of her friends who coaches at another level whose only question to me is "Would your wife have liked that call?" ALways makes for fun banter!! |

I have never had that situation before. I almost did a game with brother vs. brother. But I do not see why that is a issue for us. I would treat is like any other game until I saw something that needed my attention.
