Question frontcourt backcourt violation

Situation 1: Player A1 has the ball in his/her backcourt. A1 passes the ball to A2 that has both feet in the front court. A2 jumps in the air, catches the ball and lands in the backcourt. Violation?
Situation 2: Team A is given the ball for a throw in at the midcourt line. Player A1 passes to player A2. Player A2 jumps in the air, from the front court, catches the ball and lands in the backcourt. I believe this is a violation in both cases but can't find it in the case book. Anyone have a thought here? Thanks!

You're getting terse responses because this question has been answered myriad times. A quick search of the forum will turn up the threads.

A quick search of the rule book would also work.

Ted - the reason #2 is no is because of the exception given on a throw-in - see 9-9-3.

Terse? I just thought they were "efficient".

Ted....don't worry about it, bud. Basically, every common - and not so common - situation has been discussed in threads here.

There's nothing left to talk about except good looking moms and congratulatory remarks for getting post season games.

Newbies ain't welcome.

Sorry, didn't realize I was being terse.

Check this out.

Backcourt Violation or Not?

It should provide more details and eliminate some of the terseness.

Don't forget to include aunts and older sisters.

Nice quiz, nice set-up. But, boy, was BBref mean in the old days ... "teased" that the answers (especially to the ones most people were getting wrong) would be forthcoming and never delivered!
