Wrong Player Shoots FT
I know NBA topics are not the most popular around here, but last night in the Jazz/Suns game that was TNT, the officials allowed the wrong player to shoot a FT.
Utah's CJ Miles got a tip-in. On the play PHX's Steve Nash fouled Utah's Sundiata Gaines. The officials counted the basket but then allowed Miles to shoot the FT instead of Gaines. The play goes back down to the other end when Gaines commits a foul. Officials huddle and realize that Miles should have shot the FT. They go back to the other end and correct the error. The most interesting thing to me was that when play resumed the Suns took the ball and (at least to my knowledge) it was as though the Gaines foul never happened. |
I don't know much about NBE rules, but, I do know this is my 500th post.

Damn! NBE officials are human too.

If the error is discovered within 24 seconds, all play (expect points scored from unsportsmanlike fouls and flagrant fouls) is canceled including all points, fouls, etc. Take the point off the board and allow the correct player to shoot the free throw with the lane filled and play on. If the error was after 24 seconds, then they'd take the point off the board, allow the correct player to shoot the free throw, and resume from the point of interruption.
