Girls Varsity ist half.

Coach A is quietly squatting in-bounds while Team B is passing the ball in their front court.

A1 bats ball loose and the ball strikes Coach A and bounces out-of-bounds. Coach A quickly stands up and steps straight backward to out-of-bounds; then Coach A takes two quick steps to her right to get into coaching box.

Ref gives ball to Team B.

If ball stayed in bounds....

If ball had last touched Team B....

What else would you have done?

My inexperienced 2 cents:

I would give a technical foul to the coach squatting on the floor. I probably would have let her being on the court slide since she was not being distracting. BUT she and I know that once she became part of the play I would have to call a T. I would hate to do it but see no choice.

Inadvertant whistle (even if no one heard it) -- give the ball back to team B.

I would also give the ball back to team B -- after shooting 2 FTs for the technical foul on Coach A. Can't allow the coach to interfere with the play on the floor. JMHO

In my mostly black and white world, this seems easy. During my second game I asked my experienced partner about the coaches box. He said if they intefere with the play, T 'em up...other than that, don't go looking for trouble.

Good one Larry, I like it.
