Jump Ball play... video
YouTube - Three NBA Referees Miss an Obvious Call
Legal in FED or NCAA? Or heck, NBA if anyone knows it. Just curious, that's all. |
Not legal in Fed. Neither of the jumpers may catch the ball until it has touched the floor, a non-jumper, an official, the basket, or the backboard. The jumpers can leave the circle once the ball has been touched.
I'm not sure what the NCAA or NBA rules are. |
The announcers were half right. He can leave the circle as soon as it's touched, but he can't catch the ball until it touches a non-jumper, the official, the basket or backboard, or the floor.
|
Just to clarify, are we talking about the small jumping circle or the circle that all players must stand around?
(in hibernation until baseball season starts...) |
There is only one circle defined in the rules, and that is the larger circle which is 12 feet in diameter.
|
Not sure if it's an NBA rule or not, but the ball was touched before it reached it's peak.
