What's your mechaninc for spanking?
 

Reffing the tournament a high school aged rec-league. One game featured two teams from the same school who are all friends off the court (which really made game management easy). Once the game turned into a blowout in the second half, it turned into a half-hearted after school pickup game ("Step back. I wanna try a left-handed three"). At one point, team B is throwing the ball in under their own basket. A1, defending, and B1, throwing, have the following conversation:

-Hey man, you still going out with that girl?
-Yeah.
-Oh yeah? How long's it been? [B1 passes ball to teammate and steps in bounds]
-About 11 months.
-Really? That's crazy

At which point, A1 gives B1 a very forceful congratulatory spank. Iheld my whistle because I was so shocked and didn't have have a "Wuh-oh, I'd better get this under control" alarm go off in my head, but I realized later that I should have, if only because everyone would have found it funny.

How would you report the situation to the table? (Keep in mind that, in this league, a technical foul carries a $5 fine, so try to keep it a normal foul.)

Um...I've got nothing. Maybe a word at the next dead ball that says, "Hey, I know you guys are friends and are having a good time, but let's keep the spanking to a minimum."

I've spanked a few woman coaches and even some moms, but I can't describe the mechanic on this board. ;)

Oh yeah - they've spanked me, too. I really can't describe that mechanic here!

I know what you mean though.

End of last yr I had a "friendly game" and in the last few seconds A1 was dribbling the ball beyond the top of the key as B1 played a half-hearted defense, swiping at him and the like as the clock wound down. A1 stopped dribbling and turned his back. B1 came up and continued his jabbing. I started a count and they were joking/talking.

Then B1 jumped on A1's back and wrapped him up.

TWEEET! With like 1.8 seconds to go.

I just had to call something as I didn't want to be responsible for something bad happening, even in fun.

I agree with jdw - just talk to them here. "Lets finish out the game here guys and play basketball."

I had a HS rec game last year in which the two teams were made up of friends. About midway through the first period, A1 makes a really long 3. B1 rushes over to him, puts his arm around A1's head and gives him noogies. Everyone just laughed.

Get a room, fellas.

I didn't see one of those on the player's rear end after the spank, but he was wearing white shorts, so I might have missed it.
