Uniforms Tucked In

This may differ state to state but how do you manage that players keep their jerseys in and shorts up? Do you warn them the first time to keep them in and up or do you return them to the bench until it is fixed?

I usually tell them in pregame that if you can fix it quick you may remain on the floor if you cant or if it happens more than once you have to return to the bench.

I address this in pre-game. "Coach, are all your players properly and legally equipped to play in tonight's contest?" I expect a yes. If someone on the court is untucked or sagging, I send them to the bench if they can't correct it immediately.

I still maintain this question is meaningless. I've never had anything but a yes, but I've never actually seen the coach think about it either.
Just tell them to tuck it in. Delay the dead ball until they get it fixed. If it keeps repeating, use your judgment on when to send them to the bench instead of having them tuck it in.

I was doing a boys Freshman game last week and the third time play was stopped so the same player could tie his shoe I sent him to the bench to figure out how to tie a double knot. The coach taped his laces and we had no problems after that.

First solution to this is to not stop play for a player to tie his shoes.

Or A Zipper, Or Velcro, Or Glue ...

I would prefer it if some coaches taped their own mouths.

I carry a staple gun in my bag and use it on players who can't keep their shirts tucked in. Try it - it works! :p

Oh yeah, I sometimes use it on blabbermouth coaches.

If it continues to be a problem, I will try to watch the player to see whether the shorts are sliding down or being pulled down.

I sent a player off a couple weeks ago for this and told the coach, "Coach, I saw him pull his shorts down 3 times, and that's why I'm sending him off." Coach nodded and we had no trouble.
