Prior to our varsity game, the announcer hands the microphone to a student to sing the national anthem. As she takes the mike, the PA system dies. A nervous silence cuts through the gym for 20-30 seconds as the PA guy scrambles to find the problem. As the crowd rumbles with wonder, my 2 partners and I look at each other, take 1 step forward,and begin, loudly, " I pledge allegiance, to the flag...." The crowd joins in without missing a beat. It was a priceless meeting of the minds.
It's great when you can really work as a team!
