2 man coverage

I am wondering in 2 man how many of you as the lead come all the way across the lane into the trail area ballside. As many are running flex, swing, or motion offenses with lots of back and off ball screens how appropriate is this action. Looking for advise with veteran who does it all the time. Thanks

I do very little 2-man, but when I do I will come across the paint when needed.

I also will work a very low Trail when the ball is in the post in my primary.

I think someone else already said this in another thread, and I will echo it: being an effective trail official in 2-man requires as much or more footwork than any other position - 2 or 3 man....gotta work low when ball is in the near block all the way to near inside of halfcourt circle when ball is reversed to weak side. I love working it - so much going on in all directions.

Deeper--An Option?

The Officials' Manual indeed suggests what you are asking for 2 person lead. The risk with that is not being able to see matchups in the lane behind you. One solution: instead of just moving across as L, move deeper at an angle over that way, pinching the paint so much that from a location at the opposite lane line extended but back off the endline 8 or 10 feet, with the wider angle affording both a look at the play down in the corner as necessary but also an awareness of what's going on in the lane.
Seems to be working okay for me.
Downside: only works, of course, when there's plenty of room past the endline.
Not so necessary when the partner at T steps down to adequately cover what's in his primary near the endline.
Very necessary when a lazy partner's butt is stuck on the division line line velcro because he's slow and afraid of getting beat on transition.
Anybody else find this as an option?
