Newest Rule Lesson of the Day

This gem is from Sunday's CYO 7/8th grade boys game:

[voice style="sarcasm"]
(NFHS rules) If a team is granted a full time out and elects to stay on the floor within their time out area, they are not allowed to drink water on the court otherwise it's a technical foul.

Fortunately, no. When we called our first time out (first of the game) this particular official told the kids not to bring the water out on the court.

When the opposing team took the next time out and attempted to bring water out, the official told one of their boys that they couldn't do that and if it happened again, he would call a technical foul.

I don't know if NFHS is identical to NCAA, but I believe under NCAA rules, so long as any chairs or water are removed and cleaned up from the court before the second buzzer, it's perfectly legal. Otherwise, the team is subject to a delay of game.

Wow was right. This same official was discussing a scenario with his partner that happened in a different game. Team A commited an intentional foul and Team B was then given an Admin T because the player who was fouled was not listed in the scorebook (oops). He wanted to resume play with the arrow after each team shot their free throws.

Was the foul an intentional over-the-back reaching foul?

That was never revealed during the conversation, Cameron. However, during our 8th grade boys game, we got whistled for an "over the back" foul.

I wonder if going under the back is legal.
