Whistle in mouth?

I have what I feel is an odd question. If you are the Lead, do you have your whistle in your mouth during the first (and second of three) free throw?

Details to follow.

I do, and I've often wondered about that myself. I've never seen a lane violation before the last shot, but now that I say that, it'll happen in my next game.

I do, on the rare chance there might be disconcertion or other lane violation. I also stand where you are suppose to, not in the empty lane space next to a player.

I don't, unless it is one and one.....typically I don't put it in on the first of a 2 shot foul, and no one has told me not to.....yet.

I do. I rarely take my whistle out actually. A few times I have really stumbled and been late.....so, I leave it there, even on free throws. Habit.

Either I have it in my mouth or in my hand holding it up near my mouth so if something does happen, I'm ready.

I (almost) always have my whistle in my mouth when the ball is live or about to become live.

Unless I'm talking to a player on the lane, I have the whistle in my mouth and I'm off the block. Some referees in this area, not sure how it is elsewhere, will stand on the lane with the players until the final FT or 1-and-1. I used to do that but had a situation two years ago where I stood on the line forgetting it was 1-and-1 and not 2 or 3. Luckily it was a biddy wreck game, and not a two point game with seconds to go in a Varsity game.

In Ora

In the mouth prior to any ball about to be made live.
Glad I did last night as C when I called my first disconcertion violation I can remember. Could easily have had enough time to put it in my mouth, but it gives me one fewer thing to think about should a violation occur.

We were specifically instructed NOT to do this this year. I used to do it sometimes, but shocker, now I don't.

I do, but I have at times not been as quick to have it in my mouth. Not sure why, but that is what I have done a few times.

Peace

When the ball is at the disposal of the free thrower, live ball, I will never talk to players.

Situation last night where we had a "fan" at a small gym who was on his cell phone it seemed all night. Everytime someone came to the line, the entire gym got quiet and all you could here was the ball being dribbled and this maroon on the phone.....
