Held ball then T issued
Just a quick question...
8th grade boys game last week... Had a held ball with two players on the floor and we called a jump ball...then H1 threw the ball at V1. WHACK! Does the arrow stay put since we had not yet begun administering the throw-in? We kept the arrow the same direction (which was for the Home team), shot the free throws and gave the ball to the visitors at half court. I think we covered it right. Was just wondering if the arrow should've been switched...don't think so, but thought I'd ask. Thanks, all! |
You got it right. The arrow won't switch until the throw in is completed. In this case, the throwin was never started.

Think about it this way, the penalty for the T supercedes the AP arrow here. If V had the arrow, you would be reducing the penalty to H by making V use the arrow. If H had the arrow, you'd be increasing the penalty by giving the ball to V and switching the arrow to V.
