Ball Hits Official

A1 makes a bad pass that is clearly going out of bounds and the ball is coming towards you (the official) while you're standing near the out of bounds line and you cannot get out of the way quick enough and the ball accidentally hits you and stays in bounds.

In a situation where the ball would have clearly gone out of bounds if you were not standing there would you whistle and give the ball to team B or go strictly with the rulebook and play on?

Play on, every time.

Latter, play on.

Catch the ball. Step OOB. Blow the whistle. Award throw-in to Team B.

play on...

you are part of the floor wher it hit.... as long as it was inbounds it stays inbounds and a team caught a break

You never can assume the ball will go OOB, somone could have made a great play or it had a funky spin or it did the bunny hop.... but as long as it stayed in bounds it was in bounds. (Or go the opposite, it aint OOB until its OOB since it never went OOB it was not OOB and since it never went OOB it was inbounds)

Padgett has rubbed off on me....

Seems most of the time when this happens, you also have a kid flying at you trying for the save. I hold my ground and try to get narrow.....

Duck or dodge if you can. Play on if you can't.

Why would you treat a "bad pass" differently than a loose ball or long rebound?

Glad to see Nevada is loosening up! I Had to read his post three times to make sure he was kidding!
